I was fortunate enough to have the chance to tour Princess Cruises's brand new ship, Regal Princess last week as she was in Fort Lauderdale for her naming ceremony. It was a very festive atmosphere, we even caught a glimpse of the the original "Love Boat" cast who were on-board as Godparents.
I was very impressed with the ship, which is a sister ship to the Royal Princess launched last year. Although large (3560 passengers) the ship doesn't overwhelm as many do.
The heart of the ship is the beautiful 3 deck Atrium with cafe, pizzeria, gelato cafe, seafood/sushi bar, wine bar, martini bar plus many live entertainment options. A great spot to sit and people watch! The spa is huge and in a departure from most ships, located separately from the fitness center. Some of the other innovations include the Enclave at the spa with hydro therapy pool, Turkish Hamman, waterbeds and more. There Princess Live TV studio is where you can catch interactive game shows and musical performances as well the ship's daily morning television program. The buffet restaurant is split into two distinct dining areas. The Horizon Court is a buffet by day and transforms into alternating themed venues at night. The Horizon Bistro accommodates all meal periods and features a pastry shop and coffee bar, a hibachi grill, a rotisserie, a taco station and a make your own sandwich station. The SeaWalk is a glass-bottomed walkway that juts out 28 feet beyond the side of the ship.
Of course there are the usual Princess dining venues, the huge screen for movies under the stars, the adults only Retreat pool, and the Sanctuary for the ultimate in adults only relaxation.
The cabins are nicely appointed, with rest-full colors, and all outside cabins have balconys. If you would like to see a video about the ship, please click here.
The Regal Princess will be cruising the Caribbean this winter, and Europe next summer. If you would like more information, please call or email me!
