Many airlines like Air Canada, Lufthansa, Air France and Cathay Pacific are now offering this as a separate class with better seats and more personal space. Others like KLM, Delta and United offer “Comfort Seats” at the front of the cabin that offer extra legroom & recline though seat & service are the same as regular economy.
The advantages can vary between airlines, but most offer a separate cabin, larger seat with foot rest and head rest, more recline, amenity kit, more storage space and more luggage allowance.
Premium Economy Class is usually only available on long-haul flights, and is at a surcharge over regular economy fares. For example, looking at fares from Vancouver to London or Hong Kong in October, it’s about $500.00 CAD additional each way.
So it’s considerably more affordable than flying Business Class, but remember you’re not getting a lie-flat seat!
Instead, think of it as getting a travel experience more like what you used to get, when the skies were friendly & flying was an adventure!
So, is it worth it? For more & more people the answer is yes. Just don’t leave it too late, most airlines have very few seats in the Premium Economy section!
